New data reveal a two-way relationship between early reproductive cells and their helpers involving complex epigenetic and signaling networks determining cell number and fate. Later, the egg cell plays a central role in specifying accessory cells, whereas in both gametophytes, companion cells contribute non-cell-autonomously to the epigenetic landscape of the gamete genomes."}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.devcel.2013.01.014","open_access":"1"}],"publication_status":"published","date_published":"2013-02-11T00:00:00Z","extern":"1","issue":"3","article_processing_charge":"No","month":"02","pmid":1,"date_updated":"2023-05-08T11:00:59Z","type":"journal_article","day":"11","title":"A conversation across generations: Soma-germ cell crosstalk in plants","quality_controlled":"1","status":"public","publisher":"Elsevier","scopus_import":"1","oa":1,"oa_version":"Published Version","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","date_created":"2021-06-08T06:14:50Z"}
