{"department":[{"_id":"EvBe"}],"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"Lateral root (LR) formation is an example of a plant post-embryonic organogenesis event. LRs are issued from non-dividing cells entering consecutive steps of formative divisions, proliferation and elongation. The chromatin remodeling protein PICKLE (PKL) negatively regulates auxin-mediated LR formation through a mechanism that is not yet known. Here we show that PKL interacts with RETINOBLASTOMA-RELATED 1 (RBR1) to repress the LATERAL ORGAN BOUNDARIES-DOMAIN 16 (LBD16) promoter activity. Since LBD16 function is required for the formative division of LR founder cells, repression mediated by the PKL–RBR1 complex negatively regulates formative division and LR formation. Inhibition of LR formation by PKL–RBR1 is counteracted by auxin, indicating that, in addition to auxin-mediated transcriptional responses, the fine-tuned process of LR formation is also controlled at the chromatin level in an auxin-signaling dependent manner."}],"publication_status":"published","date_published":"2021-04-08T00:00:00Z","issue":"8","month":"04","article_processing_charge":"No","date_updated":"2023-08-08T13:09:58Z","tmp":{"image":"/images/cc_by.png","name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","short":"CC BY (4.0)","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"},"license":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","type":"journal_article","file":[{"access_level":"open_access","creator":"dernst","file_name":"2021_JourMolecularScience_Oetvoes.pdf","content_type":"application/pdf","checksum":"26ada2531ad1f9c01a1664de0431f1fe","relation":"main_file","date_created":"2021-04-19T10:54:55Z","file_size":2769717,"success":1,"file_id":"9342","date_updated":"2021-04-19T10:54:55Z"}],"day":"08","title":"Pickle recruits retinoblastoma related 1 to control lateral root formation in arabidopsis","quality_controlled":"1","status":"public","publisher":"MDPI","scopus_import":"1","oa_version":"Published Version","oa":1,"user_id":"4359f0d1-fa6c-11eb-b949-802e58b17ae8","date_created":"2021-04-18T22:01:41Z","article_number":"3862","_id":"9332","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_type":"original","citation":{"ista":"Ötvös K, Miskolczi P, Marhavý P, Cruz-Ramírez A, Benková E, Robert S, Bakó L. 2021.
