We classify a topological change that happens during growth as either a feature or noise depending on its lifetime or persistence within the filtration. We give fast algorithms for computing persistence and experimental evidence for their speed and utility.","lang":"eng"}],"publication_status":"published","publication":"Discrete & Computational Geometry","author":[{"orcid":"0000-0002-9823-6833","full_name":"Edelsbrunner, Herbert","first_name":"Herbert","id":"3FB178DA-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","last_name":"Edelsbrunner"},{"first_name":"David","full_name":"Letscher, David","last_name":"Letscher"},{"last_name":"Zomorodian","first_name":"Afra","full_name":"Zomorodian, Afra"}],"doi":"10.1007/s00454-002-2885-2","_id":"3996","date_created":"2018-12-11T12:06:20Z","month":"12","citation":{"ieee":"H.
