We analyze this problem through scaling theory and simulations, and uncover a regime where filaments’ ends find each other through bending fluctuations without the need for the whole filament to diffuse. This results in a very substantial speedup of assembly in physiological regimes, and could help with understanding the dynamics of actin and intermediate filaments in biological processes such as wound healing and cell division.","lang":"eng"}],"publication_status":"published","date_published":"2023-12-01T00:00:00Z","issue":"22","publisher":"American Physical Society","scopus_import":"1","oa_version":"Preprint","oa":1,"date_created":"2023-12-10T23:00:57Z","user_id":"2DF688A6-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","title":"Transverse fluctuations control the assembly of semiflexible filaments","quality_controlled":"1","status":"public"}
