For holes it is particularly strong, allowing for fast all electrical qubit manipulation, and yet an in-depth understanding of this interaction in hole systems is missing. Here we investigate, experimentally and theoretically, the effect of the cubic Rashba spin-orbit interaction on the mixing of the spin states by studying singlet-triplet oscillations in a planar Ge hole double quantum dot. Landau-Zener sweeps at different magnetic field directions allow us to disentangle the effects of the spin-orbit induced spin-flip term from those caused by strongly site-dependent and anisotropic quantum dot g tensors. Our work, therefore, provides new insights into the hole spin-orbit interaction, necessary for optimizing future qubit experiments.","lang":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1103/PhysRevLett.128.126803","arxiv":1,"day":"24","isi":1,"external_id":{"arxiv":["2111.05130"],"isi":["000786542500004"]},"date_updated":"2023-08-03T06:14:58Z","year":"2022","citation":{"chicago":"Jirovec, Daniel, Philipp M. However, multiple claims of Majorana detection, based on either tunnelling6,7,8,9,10 or Coulomb blockade (CB) spectroscopy11,12, remain disputed. Here we devise an experimental protocol that allows us to perform both types of measurement on the same hybrid island by adjusting its charging energy via tunable junctions to the normal leads. This method reduces ambiguities of Majorana detections by checking the consistency between CB spectroscopy and zero-bias peaks in non-blockaded transport. Specifically, we observe junction-dependent, even–odd modulated, single-electron CB peaks in InAs/Al hybrid nanowires without concomitant low-bias peaks in tunnelling spectroscopy. We provide a theoretical interpretation of the experimental observations in terms of low-energy, longitudinally confined island states rather than overlapping Majorana modes. Our results highlight the importance of combined measurements on the same device for the identification of topological Majorana zero modes."}],"doi":"10.1038/s41586-022-05382-w","arxiv":1,"day":"15","acknowledgement":"We thank P. Group IV hole spin qubits have moved into the focus of interest due to the ease of operation and compatibility with Si technology. In addition, Ge offers the option for monolithic superconductor-semiconductor integration. Here we demonstrate a hole spin qubit operating at fields below 10 mT, the critical field of Al, by exploiting the large out-of-plane hole g-factors in planar Ge and by encoding the qubit into the singlet-triplet states of a double quantum dot. We observe electrically controlled X and Z-rotations with tunable frequencies exceeding 100 MHz and dephasing times of 1μs which we extend beyond 15μs with echo techniques. These results show that Ge hole singlet triplet qubits outperform their electronic Si and GaAs based counterparts in speed and coherence, respectively. In addition, they are on par with Ge single spin qubits, but can be operated at much lower fields underlining their potential for on chip integration with superconducting technologies.","lang":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1038/s41563-021-01022-2","arxiv":1,"day":"01","volume":20,"acknowledgement":"This research was supported by the Scientific Service Units of Institute of Science and Technology (IST) Austria through resources provided by the Miba Machine Shop and the nanofabrication facility, and was made possible with the support of the NOMIS Foundation. In this study, we demonstrate that the appearance of subgap states in such structures is actually governed by the junction region in tunneling spectroscopy measurements and not the full-shell nanowire itself. Short tunneling regions never show subgap states, whereas longer junctions always do. This can be understood in terms of quantum dots forming in the junction and hosting Andreev levels in the Yu-Shiba-Rusinov regime. The intricate magnetic field dependence of the Andreev levels, through both the Zeeman and Little-Parks effects, may result in robust zero-bias peaks—features that could be easily misinterpreted as originating from Majorana zero modes but are unrelated to topological superconductivity."}],"day":"02","doi":"10.1126/science.abf1513","arxiv":1,"quality_controlled":"1","ec_funded":1,"article_type":"original","publisher":"American Association for the Advancement of Science","issue":"6550","author":[{"id":"C0BB2FAC-D767-11E9-B658-BC13E6697425","full_name":"Valentini, Marco","last_name":"Valentini","first_name":"Marco"},{"full_name":"Peñaranda, Fernando","last_name":"Peñaranda","first_name":"Fernando"},{"full_name":"Hofmann, Andrea C","last_name":"Hofmann","first_name":"Andrea C","id":"340F461A-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"},{"id":"33F94E3C-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","full_name":"Brauns, Matthias","first_name":"Matthias","last_name":"Brauns"},{"full_name":"Hauschild, Robert","orcid":"0000-0001-9843-3522","last_name":"Hauschild","first_name":"Robert","id":"4E01D6B4-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"},{"full_name":"Krogstrup, Peter","last_name":"Krogstrup","first_name":"Peter"},{"full_name":"San-Jose, Pablo","first_name":"Pablo","last_name":"San-Jose"},{"full_name":"Prada, Elsa","first_name":"Elsa","last_name":"Prada"},{"first_name":"Ramón","last_name":"Aguado","full_name":"Aguado, Ramón"},{"full_name":"Katsaros, Georgios","orcid":"0000-0001-8342-202X","last_name":"Katsaros","first_name":"Georgios","id":"38DB5788-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87"}],"scopus_import":"1","_id":"8910","intvolume":" 373","title":"Nontopological zero-bias peaks in full-shell nanowires induced by flux-tunable Andreev states","department":[{"_id":"GeKa"},{"_id":"Bio"}],"date_created":"2020-12-02T10:51:52Z","article_processing_charge":"No","publication_status":"published"},{"ddc":["620"],"acknowledgement":"This research and related results were made possible with the support of the NOMIS Foundation. We demonstrate a large range of tunability, from two single quantum dots to a double quantum dot. We measure Pauli spin blockade and study the anisotropy of the $g$-factor. We use an adjacent quantum dot for sensing charge transitions in the double quantum dot at interest. In conclusion, Ge/SiGe possesses all ingredients necessary for building a singlet-triplet qubit."}],"arxiv":1,"doi":"10.48550/arXiv.1910.05841","day":"13","acknowledgement":"We thank Matthias Brauns for helpful discussions and careful proofreading of the manuscript.
