We find that mesoscale correlations affect not only the magnitude of charge transfer but also the fluctuations—suppressing otherwise overwhelming charge-transfer variability that is not observed experimentally. We furthermore propose a generic theoretical mechanism by which the mesoscale features might emerge, which is qualitatively consistent with other proposals in the literature.","lang":"eng"}],"publication_status":"published","date_created":"2020-07-07T11:33:54Z","external_id":{"isi":["000561897000001"],"arxiv":["2006.07120"]},"_id":"8101","project":[{"call_identifier":"H2020","grant_number":"754411","_id":"260C2330-B435-11E9-9278-68D0E5697425","name":"ISTplus - Postdoctoral Fellowships"}],"file_date_updated":"2020-08-17T15:54:20Z","publication":"Physical Review Materials","ec_funded":1,"date_published":"2020-08-17T00:00:00Z","keyword":["electric charge","tribocharging","soft matter","granular materials","polymers"],"article_processing_charge":"Yes","month":"08","title":"Quantitatively consistent scale-spanning model for same-material tribocharging","date_updated":"2023-08-22T08:41:32Z","scopus_import":"1","acknowledgement":"We would like to thank Philip Born, Bartosz Grzybowski, Tarik Baytekin, and Bilge Baytekin for helpful discussions.\r\nThis project has received funding from the European Unions Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Grant Agreement No. 754411.","issue":"8","user_id":"4359f0d1-fa6c-11eb-b949-802e58b17ae8","intvolume":" 4","oa":1,"article_number":"082602","volume":4,"related_material":{"record":[{"id":"12697","relation":"popular_science","status":"public"}]}}]
