However, recent experiments have shown that global differences persist even between same-material samples, which the standard mosaic framework does not account for. Here, we expand the mosaic framework by incorporating global differences in the densities of donor/acceptor sites. We develop\r\nan analytical model, backed by numerical simulations, that smoothly connects the global and deterministic charge transfer of different materials to the local and stochastic mosaic picture normally associated with identical materials. Going further, we extend our model to explain the effect of contact asymmetries during sliding, providing a plausible explanation for reversal of charging sign that has been observed experimentally.","lang":"eng"}],"external_id":{"arxiv":["2304.12861"],"isi":["001019565900002"]},"project":[{"_id":"0aa60e99-070f-11eb-9043-a6de6bdc3afa","grant_number":"949120","name":"Tribocharge: a multi-scale approach to an enduring problem in physics","call_identifier":"H2020"},{"grant_number":"754411","_id":"260C2330-B435-11E9-9278-68D0E5697425","call_identifier":"H2020","name":"ISTplus - Postdoctoral Fellowships"}],"date_published":"2023-06-13T00:00:00Z","publisher":"American Physical Society","volume":7,"quality_controlled":"1","department":[{"_id":"ScWa"}]},{"doi":"10.3390/sym14102182","_id":"12154","article_type":"original","file_date_updated":"2023-01-24T10:56:12Z","article_number":"2182","keyword":["Physics and Astronomy (miscellaneous)","General Mathematics","Chemistry (miscellaneous)","Computer Science (miscellaneous)"],"citation":{"short":"L. In the superfluid phase, characterized by the spontaneous symmetry breaking of the U(1) symmetry, there is the coexistence of first and second sound. In the case of weakly-interacting repulsive bosons, we model the recent measurements of the sound velocities of 39K atoms in 2D obtained in the weakly-interacting regime and around the Berezinskii–Kosterlitz–Thouless (BKT) superfluid-to-normal transition temperature. In particular, we perform a quite accurate computation of the superfluid density and show that it is reasonably consistent with the experimental results. For superfluid attractive fermions, we calculate the first and second sound velocities across the whole BCS-BEC crossover. In the low-temperature regime, we reproduce the recent measurements of first-sound speed with 6Li atoms. We also predict that there is mixing between sound modes only in the finite-temperature BEC regime."}],"external_id":{"isi":["000875039200001"]},"tmp":{"name":"Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Public License (CC-BY 4.0)","short":"CC BY (4.0)","image":"/images/cc_by.png","legal_code_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/legalcode"},"ddc":["530"],"publication_status":"published","publication":"Symmetry","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"intvolume":" 14","has_accepted_license":"1","scopus_import":"1","isi":1,"title":"First and second sound in two-dimensional bosonic and fermionic superfluids","issue":"10","article_processing_charge":"Yes","date_updated":"2023-08-09T10:13:17Z","oa":1,"type":"journal_article","status":"public","file":[{"relation":"main_file","file_size":843723,"access_level":"open_access","content_type":"application/pdf","creator":"dernst","date_updated":"2023-01-24T10:56:12Z","date_created":"2023-01-24T10:56:12Z","file_id":"12361","checksum":"9b6bd0e484834dd76d7b26e3c5fba8bd","file_name":"2022_Symmetry_Salsnich.pdf","success":1}],"user_id":"3E5EF7F0-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","oa_version":"Published Version","day":"17","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2073-8994"]},"month":"10","author":[{"last_name":"Salasnich","full_name":"Salasnich, Luca","first_name":"Luca"},{"id":"9d13b3cb-30a2-11eb-80dc-f772505e8660","last_name":"Cappellaro","orcid":"0000-0001-6110-2359","first_name":"Alberto","full_name":"Cappellaro, Alberto"},{"last_name":"Furutani","full_name":"Furutani, Koichiro","first_name":"Koichiro"},{"last_name":"Tononi","full_name":"Tononi, Andrea","first_name":"Andrea"},{"full_name":"Bighin, Giacomo","first_name":"Giacomo","orcid":"0000-0001-8823-9777","id":"4CA96FD4-F248-11E8-B48F-1D18A9856A87","last_name":"Bighin"}]},{"publication_status":"published","external_id":{"isi":["000917225500013"],"arxiv":["2103.09481"]},"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"We revisit two basic Direct Simulation Monte Carlo Methods to model aggregation kinetics and extend them for aggregation processes with collisional fragmentation (shattering).
